At Sanctum, we feel a special sense of pride when a wine reaches the moment it is ready to step confidently into the world. That moment has arrived with our newest release, Devina Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022, recently tasted and exceptionally highly rated by Gorazd Selič in Dolce Vita magazine.
Devina 2022 is more than just a new wine in our collection. It is the result of years of careful observation of a single vineyard, patience, and deep respect for a terroir first recognized by the Carthusian monks as early as the 12th century. This single vineyard Pinot Noir comes from selected sites above Lipoglav, where marl soils, elevation, and a cooler climate come together — ideal conditions for a variety that demands precision and a gentle hand.
In his article Sanctum Devina 2022, Gorazd Selič describes the wine with remarkable sensitivity and depth. Devina impressed him with its elegance, finesse, harmonious structure, and exceptional drinkability, while at the same time showing the seriousness and character found only in truly great wines. He described it as a tribute to the Carthusian legacy and the Styrian terroir, awarding it an outstanding 97 points.
Devina 2022 matures in French oak barrels, ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and is crafted without unnecessary intervention. Purity of variety, vibrancy, subtle mineral tension, and a long, noble finish are at the forefront. This is a Pinot Noir not meant for haste, but for moments when time is taken and savored.
With Devina 2022, Sanctum once again stands alongside the finest interpretations of Pinot Noir, reaffirming that Styria is home to terroirs of truly world-class potential.
