We were truly delighted to welcome Gorazd Selič to the Sanctum estate — one of Slovenia’s most respected wine writers and the author of the regular column “Wines to My Taste” in Dolce Vita magazine. During his visit, he took the time to deeply explore our story, philosophy, and complete portfolio of wines, all born from the historic terroirs above Loče.
In his latest article, Selič returns to the very essence of wine — the land, the people, and time. He places special emphasis on the Carthusian heritage of our vineyards, our sustainable work in the vineyard, and our minimalist approach in the cellar, where wines ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and mature in wooden barrels, following the Burgundian tradition.
The heart of the article is dedicated to the wines themselves. Our Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, Syrah, and Blaufränkisch are described with great precision, sensitivity, and respect for both grape variety and terroir. Sanctum wines received very high scores, with some reaching an outstanding 97 points, confirming our commitment to elegance, purity, and authentic terroir expression.
Such writings are especially meaningful to us, as they come from an author who approaches wine intuitively, honestly, and without pretension. We are grateful that he recognized in Sanctum wines exactly what we strive to express — a sense of place, deep respect for tradition, and a contemporary yet restrained style.
Our sincere thanks to Gorazd Selič for his visit, thoughtful tasting, and exceptional article.
