Sanctum Vineyards

We depend on a respectful attitude to our soil; we are convinced that wine matures in the vineyards.

Our vineyards are divided into numerous plots, which span the steep slopes of hills and hillocks at an altitude between 300 and 400 metres above sea level.

We have chosen varieties that were brought to this region by Carthusians from Burgundy.

The prevailing variety is Pinot noir, to which Chardonnay and Syrah have been added. The latter thrives at our location due to the cool climate.

Terrain

Our vineyards span steep (30-40° incline) southern slopes of hillocks over the towns Loče and Klokočovnik at a sea level between 300 and 400 metres.

Soil

We strive to produce wines with the unique character of the marl ground. Our vineyards thrive on marl ground or on a mix of marl and clay.

Wine varieties

We have chosen varieties that were brought to this region by Carthusians from Burgundy.
